Donald Trump has hinted that the US will start wrapping up his war with Iran while leaving the question of Strait of Hormuz to ‘other nations.’

The US president announced last night that his military is ‘getting very close to meeting our objectives’ on the 21st day of the war launched with Israel.

Posting on Truth Social, he said other nations will have to guard and police the Strait of Hormuz, which became too unsafe for ships because of Iran’s airstrikes in response to US-Israel attacks.

He said the US will help guard the route on the Persian Gulf ‘if asked’ but that it stepping in ‘shouldn’t be necessary.’

‘Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them,’ he added in a post that is likely to raise concerns among the US allies whose economies have been hit by the Strait closure.

Trump posted: ‘We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran.’

‘The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated.

As most ships have been unable to pass through the Strait, oil prices have continued to rise, with the impact felt across the world at petrol pumps and with food prices.

Most airlines have some buffering against immediate jet fuel rises, but some companies are preparing for oil prices to hit $175 per barrel soon.

Trump’s latest outburst comes after the UK announced it will let the US military use British bases to target Iran’s blockade of the Strait.

Until now, the US has been allowed to stop at British bases only to hit missile sites targeting British interests in the Middle East.
