PS4 PS Vita game Nuclear Throne getting free update

In news we didn’t expect to see today, an acclaimed 10-year-old PS4 / PS Vita game is getting a new update with free content for everyone. As part of its 15th anniversary celebrations, studio Vlambeer announced a new update for Nuclear Throne. The update will coincide with the game’s 10th anniversary in December 2025.

PS4, Vita game Nuclear Throne will add new features and cosmetics in new update

The update will be released on Steam first. Vlambeer says that “once the most horrible bugs are out of the way,” it will be launched on “all other platforms.” The developer hasn’t confirmed if this includes the PS Vita, so don’t get your hopes up. However, we do expect the update for Nuclear Throne’s PS4 version.

As for what the update will bring, expect a new custom difficulty mode, 60+ FPS support, localization, C-skins for all 13 characters with their own unlock challenges, and “many more quality of life features.”

Vlambeer was set to close after 10 years of operation as founders Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman mutually decided to pursue different directions. However, Ismail decided to sell his shares to Nijman, who then reopened the studio.

Vlambeer is currently developing fast-paced high-score game, Ultrabugs.
