David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was left shocked in tonight’s Coronation Street when he found a positive pregnancy test in his bin – but not as shocked as he was to discover the owner.

David has been involved in an ongoing war over his recycling bins ever since Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) moved in next door.

He made it clear from the outset that he wasn’t happy about Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) dumping cardboard in his bin, and warned his new neighbours that he didn’t want it to happen again.

Unfortunately for David, this was only the beginning, and he has only got more and more irritated by the Connor-Swains taking advantage of his blue bin.

Last week, things reached a head when David unintentionally interrupted Carla’s romantic proposal by unceremoniously dumping her share of the rubbish back over the fence.

With Betsy celebrating her 18th birthday in tonight’s episode, David once again found himself at No.6, this time complaining about the noise.

After a few snide comments from both parties, Carla promised not to dump anything in David’s bins again, seemingly bringing the war to an end.

However, David was later stunned to find a pregnancy test among his rubbish, and automatically assumed it was from next door.

He delighted in gossiping to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), sharing his theory that it was either Betsy who was expecting, or Carla or Lisa had cheated.

He was swiftly brought back down to Earth when Sarah pointed out that it could belong to Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner), leaving him horrified.

Earlier in the episode, Lily had been complaining that she wasn’t feeling well, though David had brushed it off as her overreacting, until Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) had pointed out that she had heard the teen being sick that morning.

Later, David was called to pick Lily up from school, after she was caught fighting over boys with a classmate.

Despite the evidence mounting, David tried to argue against Sarah’s theory by pointing out Lily’s age, though his sister was quick to remind him that she had been the same age when she’d given birth to Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

Desperate for answers, David went snooping through Lily’s bag, much to her horror, only for the teen to reveal that the pregnancy test wasn’t hers.

David obviously didn’t believe her, and quickly threw Sarah out when she took Lily’s side in the argument.

Sarah headed straight to the cafe to warn Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) of David’s mood, and she seemed equally as horrified by the situation.

However, when she got home, it became clear that it was David’s actions she was horrified by, as she revealed that the pregnancy test was hers.

How will David react to the news that he is set to be a dad?
