After directing 40 movies, and starring in more than 60, over a career spanning eight decades, Clint Eastwood has apparently taken a step back from the filmmaking business.

The four-time Oscar winner’s son, the composer Kyle Eastwood, said during a live performance last year – in footage that has begun doing the rounds online in recent days – that his dad had “retired” at the age of 95 (he’s since turned 96).

“I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me,” Kyle added in the footage.

HuffPost UK has contacted Clint Eastwood’s team for comment.

Clint began his career in the 1950s, and had his breakthrough thanks to his work in the Dollars trilogy: A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

His other most notable on-screen work includes playing the title role in Dirty Harry and its many sequels, as well as films like High Plains Drifter and Unforgiven, which he also directed.

As his career progressed, he became as well-known for his work behind the camera as in front of it, winning four Academy Awards for his work as a producer and director on Million Dollar Baby and the aforementioned Unforgiven.

Other films directed by Clint include the Oscar-nominated Mystic River and American Sniper, as well as True Crime, Changeling, Gran Torino, J. Edgar and Jersey Boys.

In the later years of his career, Clint’s acting work mostly consisted of films he directed himself, including Trouble With The Curve, The Mule and the neo-Western Cry Macho.

The most recent film he directed was the legal drama Juror #2, released in 2024, which starred Toni Collette, Nicholas Hoult and J.K. Simmons.

He is also the recipient of five Golden Globes, a Lifetime Achievement prize at the Actor Awards and an honorary Bafta.
