Paramount Pictures is bringing back a classic 1960s heist movie for a remake, with director Dexter Fletcher attached to helm the project.
What classic heist movie is getting a remake?
According to a new report from THR, The League of Gentlemen is getting a remake at Paramount. Fletcher (Rocketman) will direct the film from a screenplay written by Bek Smith (Moana 2). THR’s report notes that the film will be a “modern-day remake” of the original film.
The original movie, directed by Basil Dearden, followed a group of former officers of the British army who plan a bank robbery in London. The movie was based on John Boland’s 1958 novel of the same name.
Currently, little is known about the remake outside of Fletcher’s involvement. THR notes that he was attached to the project since last year, as well. The project was originally in development at Skydance but is now in the hands of Paramount after their merger.
Outside of 2019’s Rocketman, Fletcher has most recently directed the Apple TV film Ghosted, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, and is also an accomplished actor, having starred in a number of films dating back to the 1970s.
