When DeWanna Bonner arrived in Indy, it was leadership, mentorship, and her “mama bear” presence that elevated the Fever locker room. CC even admitted earlier this year, “I want to win for her. This is the end of her career. She deserves it.” The two quickly bonded during training camp, often sharing laughs. At one moment, they were even seen doing a playful tussle where Bonner refused to let go of CC’s wrist. But just a couple of months since then, it seems CC’s promise has changed, understandably though.

With CC being sidelined for yet another game due to her right groin injury, the Fever entered the game against the Phoenix Mercury. As usual, it was intense, but the major spotlight remained on a different scene. It was at the 7:43 mark in the fourth quarter when Bonner picked up a shooting foul.

In response, CC, visibly frustrated, came out of the huddle and started jawing at Bonner. “You see Caitlin Clark to the right, behind the coach, coming out and jawing at D’Wanna Bonner. Bonner says, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was a foul. And Clark is saying, no, no foul, no foul… Yes, it was a foul.” The commentator put it best.
