The film, which is already in production, will follow Connect 3 (the Jonas Brothers’ in-movie band) returning to Camp Rock to try and find an opening act for their major reunion tour. “As campers vie for the chance to open for their favorite band, tensions rise and friendships are tested, leading to unexpected alliances, revelations and romances. Camp Rock’s all-new campers include bold and determined Sage (Liamani Segura) and her easygoing brother Desi (Hudson Stone), cello prodigy Rosie (Lumi Pollack), drummer with his own beat Cliff (Casey Trotter), choreo queen Callie (Brooklynn Pitts), intimidating influencer Madison (Ava Jean) and camp bad boy Fletch (Malachi Barton),” reads the film’s logline.

The first Camp Rock movie was originally released in 2008 on Disney Channel, and starred Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera, Daniel Fathers, and Alyson Stoner. The film followed the story of an aspiring teenage singer, Mitchie (Lovato), who goes to Camp Rock, a summer music camp. The film was an instant hit for Disney, and watched by over 8 million people on the night of its premiere. To date, the film is the third-highest-viewed Disney Channel Original Movie ever, behind High School Musical 2 and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.

A sequel to the film, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, premiered in 2010, and was also a massive hit. That film saw Nick and Kevin Jonas join the cast, and also garnered 7.9 million viewers on its premiere night, becoming the most for a film on cable television in all of 2010.
