The Stratford-upon-Avon Herald reported that John Nolan has passed away at the age of 87 on April 11. The reason for his demise remains undisclosed. His nephew, Christopher Nolan, released a statement to Entertainment Weekly.
The iconic filmmaker said, “My uncle John was the first artist I knew, and he taught me more than anyone about the search for truth in acting and the joys of creative achievement. I miss him terribly but take great comfort in my memories of John, particularly those of working together.”
Born in London, England, Nolan was married to Kim Hartman. He began his acting career in 1965, portraying brief roles in television shows like ITV Playhouse, The Prisoner, Hadleigh, and others.
In 1973, he appeared in a full-fledged TV series, Shabby Tiger, playing Nick Faunt in all 7 episodes. He became widely known for his appearance as Fredericks in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises, both directed by his nephew, Christopher.
He then became a part of the People of Interest series, which was created by his other nephew, Jonathan Nolan. In it, he played the antagonist role of John Greer. In addition, he appeared in a minor role in Dunkirk. His last film before his demise was Dune: Prophecy, where he played Speaker of the High Council.
