Miyako’s already accomplished quite a bit as an actor. She starred in the big screen adaptation of The Darkest Mindsopposite Amandla Stenberg, was in McG’s sci-fi adventure film Rim of the World on Netflix, and was also in the latest revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark?, just to name a few project. But, taking on something like Netflix’s live-action rendition of Avatar: The Last Airbenderis a different beast. Not only is it a massive fantasy production with extensive set builds and effects, but it’s also a property with an enormous following, and that means that taking on one of those iconic roles comes with a significant amount of expectation and pressure, especially when you’re portraying a beloved character in the franchise like Toph Beifong.
