The Colorado Avalanche lost their big trade-deadline addition to an injury on Tuesday.

Nazem Kadri suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues and was ruled out for the remainder of the game at the start of the third period.

It’s unclear how Kadri was injured but he missed most of the second period after blocking a couple of shots early in the frame.

Kadri, 35, was re-acquired by the Avalanche from the Calgary Flames at the trade deadline after previously playing for the team from 2019-22. He has 16 goals and 50 points in 76 games this season.

The Avalanche won the game 3-1 and clinched the top-seed in the Western Conference.
