In a latest interview, producer Rajan Shahi revealed everything about Gaurav Khanna's casting in Anupamaa.
Rajan Shahi was adviced against Gaurav Khanna's casting in Anupamaa?
In an interview with Indian Express, Rajan Shahi revealed how he locked Gaurav Khanna to be Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa. He said that he was traveling to New York with his daughter and suddenly stumbled upon Gaurav Khanna's profile. As he was finding a suitable face to play Anuj Kapadia, he came across Gaurav's profile and remembered the actor reaching out to him seeking opportunities. The producer shared that he was advice against casting Gaurav Khanna as he was consider to be 'jinxed' due to the failure of his previous projects. But despite all the advice, Rajan Shahi showed faith in Gaurav and brought him onboard as Anuj Kapadia without even taking a formal audition. "I asked my team to contact Gaurav Khanna, who was shooting for a web series at that time. I had locked Gaurav right then, but I told him that I would test if he works out and then do a three-year contract," Rajan Shahi said.
Rajan Shahi also shared that he was supposed to get into a three-year contract with Gaurav Khanna. The producer explained, "Sometimes he says he just had a cameo in the show. If that was the case, why would I sign a three-year contract with him? But I had told him that I couldn't guarantee how long he would be on the show because that depends on the track." Fans are happy that despite all odds, Gaurav Khanna became Anuj Kapadia.
