From 1964 through 1966, The Addams Family ran on television side-by-side with a fellow monstrous clan, The Munsters. Since their heyday, however, the fates of these two sets of horror sitcom icons have diverged. The former has grown far beyond its New Yorker comic strip origins to become an enduring, creepy, and kooky franchise with starry films, books, and more, while the latter has enjoyed more modest success through reboots, spin-offs, and made-for-TV movies. After the family lay dormant for a while, Rob Zombie finally got the chance to bring The Munsters back to life on Netflix, less than two months before the platform debuted its Addams Family mega-hit, Wednesday. Now, three years later, Jenna Ortega's show is dominating the charts in Season 2, while Zombie's film is set to bid farewell to the platform on September 27, just ahead of spooky season.
