2 R-Rated Sequels of Johnny Depp Show & More Paramount+ Releases This Week

Paramount+ drops two R-rated sequels of Johnny Depp‘s series starring Channing Tatum, plus more releases this week.

Coming to Paramount+ on June 1, the Jump Street films follow mismatched police officers Schmidt and Jenko as they go undercover in educational institutions to bust dangerous drug rings. They are sequels to Johnny Depp’s 21 Jump Street series that ran for five seasons.

In 21 Jump Street (2012), rookie cops Schmidt and Jenko go undercover in high school to bust a deadly synthetic drug called HFS after botching an arrest. The assignment flips their social roles from their own high school days. Jonah Hill stars as Morton Schmidt, with Channing Tatum as Greg Jenko, alongside Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Ice Cube, and Rob Riggle. Depp even returns in the film alongside his TV co-star Peter DeLuise.

The 2014 sequel, 22 Jump Street, sends the duo to college to stop a new drug called WHYPHY. Campus life tests their partnership. Jenko bonds with fraternity jocks and the football team. Schmidt falls into the bohemian art scene. To bust the case and save Captain Dickson’s daughter, they need to get back on the same page.

Also releasing on Paramount+ this week, on June 2, is Devotion: Obedience or Betrayal. Set in New Zealand’s isolated Gloriavale religious commune, the three-part documentary series investigates life inside. It exposes the community’s strict hierarchies and hidden realities.

Another must-watch on Paramount+ this week is the 79th Annual Tony Awards.
