15 Years Later, Jason Statham's Near-Perfect Action Thriller Hit Is Officially Taking Over the World

2026 hasn’t exactly been an ideal year so far for Jason Statham, who began his year in movies with his latest action thriller, Shelter. On its way into theaters, Shelter was backed by the strongest reviews of any Statham-led actioner in over 10 years, but the film unfortunately grossed only $54 million at the box office against a $50 million budget, leaving it well short of its break-even point. It has since found redemption as one of the most popular movies in the world on VOD platforms like Prime Video, but it likely isn’t enough to recuperate its considerable loss. Statham will have a shot at redemption this August when his new action thriller, Mutiny, hits theaters. The film also stars Peaky Blinders veteran Annabelle Wallis. At the start of 2027, he’ll even headline the highly anticipated sequel to The Beekeeper.
