Some TV shows have no single character appearing in every episode (see Game of Thrones and Stranger Things), while other TV shows have everyone in the main cast in every episode (like Friends). In between those extremes, it’s more common to have a small number of characters appearing in every episode, as is the case with The Office and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the latter of which had the title character and Willow in every single episode (Xander only missed one).
