Television is largely considered to be a frivolous, disposable form of entertainment, but some TV shows have been so groundbreaking, or had such a profound cultural impact, that they actually changed the world. A show like Burn Notice or The Big Bang Theory is frivolous, disposable entertainment, and there’s nothing wrong with that — sometimes, we need that at the end of a long, hard day — but some TV shows have set their sights a little higher and achieved bigger and better things.
