People often don't realize how important opening scenes are to establishing people's pre-opinions of the rest of a film. If a movie has a bad or mediocre ending, the viewers have a much harder time getting on board and finding interest as they would otherwise. Directors and writers want their viewers to immediately be invested, excited, and engrossed in what will come next.
