Any franchise that runs for years or decades is bound to become rife with fan theories, and Pokémon is no different. Since the early days of the franchise, Pokémon has typically never delved so far into its lore that it spells everything out for fans; most lore drops in Pokémon are fairly vague and require people to go out of their way to find them, and because of that, it usually falls onto the fans to come up with ideas for how the world works, regardless of the continuity.
