Sigourney Weaver is an icon in every sense of the word. Born Susan Alexander Weaver in New York City in 1949, she developed an interest in acting at the age of 14, and she chose to change her name to Sigourney after a minor character from The Great Gatsby. After graduating from Stanford and Yale, she took on a minor role in Annie Hall in 1976, before being cast in her breakout role in Alien two years later.
