The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been one of the most unique remake situations in video game history. Three games, released years apart, in an effort to capture the essence of the original 1997 release that changed RPGs forever. That strategy has rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way, with Remake and Rebirth releasing four years apart and across two generations of consoles, which was partially responsible for Rebirth not meeting Square Enix sales projections.
