Martin Scorsese is well-known for making gangster movies, even if they only account for about a bit under a quarter of his filmography. He’s made a few crime movies that aren’t about organized crime, but there are half a dozen that can quite comfortably be called gangster films, including Mean Streets (also perhaps his first great film), Goodfellas, and Gangs of New York.
