Russell Crowe isn’t slowing down as he kicks off 2026 with his latest film, Beast, which has begun screening in select theaters worldwide. The movie features Crowe as a hardened MMA trainer alongside Luke Hemsworth and Daniel MacPherson, and it clearly draws inspiration from earlier MMA-centered projects like The Smashing Machine, Dwayne Johnson’s 2025 biographical drama. At the same time, Crowe remains busy shooting his upcoming sci-fi/fantasy reboot, Highlander, which also stars Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista. The project is a reimagining of the 1986 original that starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, with Chad Stahelski, best known for his work on the John Wick films, directing. While Highlander doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, it’s expected to arrive in theaters sometime next year. Production is ongoing as more set photos from the film arrive each week.
