Simone Biles’ relationship with Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens has been gaining headlines, ever since they went official in August 2020. Since then, they have announced their engagement and are supposed to be married by next year.
But Jonathan Owens isn’t Biles’ only high-profile relationship. Before she got involved with the NFL star, she was dating Stacey Ervin Jr,
Relationship between Simone Biles and Stacey Ervin Jr.
Stacey Ervin Jr. is a retired American professional wrestler and former amateur gymnast. Biles and Ervin Jr. first met in August 2014 during the P&G Gymnastics Championships. But the two didn’t start seeing each other until much later, in 2017. When Biles was performing in the show, ‘Dancing With The Stars’, her mother, Nellie Biles, hired Stacey to coach at her gym in Texas.
They quickly reconnected, and Biles made their relationship Instagram official by August. According to People, Biles posted a snap of herself looking up adoringly at Stacey and captioned the picture, “Always smiling with you.”
They had a nearly three-year-long relationship before parting ways in March 2020. During this period, the couple frequently starred in each other’s posts and raved about one another constantly. After the split, neither of the two players shared the reason for their separation. However, for her cover story in the August 2020 issue of Vogue, she commented on the break-up.
“It’s hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it,” she said. “But it was for the best.”
Who is Stacey Ervin Jr.?
Ervin was born in 1993 in Taylor, Michigan. He has three siblings; a brother Drake and two sisters, Danielle and Karine. Stacey began gymnastics at the suggestion of his mother, Stephanie Ervin, around the age of 8. Notably, his team took home gold at the 2013 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships.
However, a few years later, he signed on with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). And he appeared in the NXT brand. He made his debut in September 2018 and won his first match in the October 4 house show, defeating Luke Menzies.
His signature move during his career was the standing corkscrew moonsault. Ultimately, he retired in April 2019, a decision he felt was tough but right for him. His estimated net worth is around US$600,000. He currently runs a fitness program and is active on social media.
