Abbott Elementary Season 5 Trailer Previews Return of Award-Winning Sitcom

ABC has shared the official trailer for Abbott Elementary Season 5, the highly anticipated next installment of Quinta Brunson‘s award-winning school sitcom. The workplace comedy series is scheduled to make its return on October 1.

What happens in ABC’s Abbott Elementary Season 5 trailer?

The video highlights some of the changes that the rest of the faculty will be facing in the new school year. These include Janine handling more students in her class, Melissa discovering how difficult it is to deal with pre-teens, and Mr. Johnson learning how to ride a bike from Gregory. Since the show’s debut in 2021, it has maintained a near-perfect Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Abbott Elementary is created and executive-produced by Brunson, who is also leading the cast as Janine Teagues. The sitcom also stars Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. For its fourth season, the show received six Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

“In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life,” reads the series’ synopsis. “Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.”
